Kansas Budget Revenue Forcast Ready

KSCB News - April 15, 2011 8:22 am

Kansas officials are preparing to issue a
new revenue forecast that legislators will use to complete a
proposed $14 billion state budget.
Friday’s forecasting meeting involved university economists,
legislative researchers, Department of Revenue officials and Gov.
Sam Brownback’s budget staff.
They’re planning to revise the forecast for both the current
fiscal year and the fiscal year that begins July 1.
Through March, revenues were $19 million short of expectations,
or 0.5 percent.
The current forecast predicts revenues of $5.8 billion during
the current fiscal year and slightly more during the next fiscal
year. The state also relies on federal funds and other sources to
finance government operations.
Legislators return April 27 from a long break to complete the
budget and finish their work for the year.
