10 Western Okla. Counties Under Fire Watch

KSCB News - April 12, 2011 8:23 am

Parts of Oklahoma received some much-needed rain over the weekend, but wildfires are still a danger for the state.

The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for 10 counties in western Oklahoma for Tuesday. The counties are Beaver, Beckham, Cimarron, Ellis, Greer, Harmon, Harper, Roger Mills, Woods and Woodward.

Forecasters say southerly winds of 20 to 25 mph with higher gusts, relative humidity of 8 to 15% and temperatures in the 70s and 80s are expected in the Oklahoma Panhandle on Tuesday. In the other counties, southerly winds of 20 to 25 mph, relative humidity of 10 to 15% and temperatures in the 70s and 80s are possible.

The weather service says any fires that develop could spread rapidly and outdoor burning is discouraged.
