Entries Now Being Accepted for the First District Congressional Arts Competition

KSCB News - March 25, 2011 3:51 pm

Congressman Tim Huelskamp announced today that entries are now being accepted for the 2011 Congressional Arts Competition. All high school students in the First Congressional District are encouraged to participate in this competition. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

“Every day I walk through the Cannon Tunnel of the Capitol Complex and see students’ artwork from across the country adorning the walls,” Congressman Huelskamp said. “It is a wonderful program, and I look forward to receiving new submissions from Kansas students.”

The new Jerry Thomas Gallery and Collection at The El Quartelejo Museum in Scott City, Kansas will host the 2011 competition.

This year’s competition is divided into seven categories: paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer generated art and photography. All submissions must be received between Tuesday, April 5
