Satanta Voters To Vote On Sales Tax Increase

KSCB News - March 24, 2011 3:42 pm

At the General Election on April the 5th, residents of Satanta will be asked to vote on a referendum authorizing the Satanta City Council to increase the city-wide sales tax by 0.50% to be used towards the cost of providing and maintaining the public infrastructure of the City of Satanta. This would be a general sales tax which would begin August 1, 2011 if approved. The intent of the Satanta City Council is to use the additional sales tax proceeds for providing and maintaining the infrastructure needs of the City, which would otherwise require an increase in the property tax levy of the City. Based on 2009 information from the Kansas Department of Revenue, the proposed sales tax increase would generate approximately $52,000.00 for the City of Satanta.
