Vice-Commander Henry Visits Liberal

The Liberal American Legion Post #80 hosted National Vice Commander Russell Henry of Sulpher Louisiana Monday evening at the Salty Dog Restaurant.Vice Commander Henry is on his three day tour of Kansas. A crowd of over 25 American Legion members and their invited guests enjoyed a meal of brisket and sausage, and an evening of great conversation.Vice Commander Henry spoke to those in attendance and about membership. He stated local posts must continue to actively grow their memberships or those post will go away. Recruiting Gulf War veterans and women are essential in keeping the Legion alive. He also said that taking care of the veterans, with rehabilitation and meeting their needs and the needs of their spouses and children were vital as well. New to the American Legion will be online registration. This will be in place by July 1st, 2011. Kansas ranks #8 in American Legion membership in the nation.
