K-23 Bridge Replacement Project in Meade County

KSCB News - February 23, 2011 5:40 pm

Work has started to replace a bridge built in 1965 over the Cimarron River on K-23 in Meade County, approximately ½-mile north of the Kansas – Oklahoma state line.

The project calls for building the new bridge on an offset alignment, about 125 feet west of the current bridge, with a total project length of 1¼ miles. Because the bridge is being built on a new alignment, the impact on traffic will be minimal during construction. The Kansas Department of Transportation still urges drivers to proceed cautiously when approaching and driving through the work zone. Be prepared to slow down or stop as needed.

Bridges, Inc., of Newton, Kansas, is the primary contractor on this $3.99 million T-Works preservation project. The Kansas DOT expects the work to be finished by early next year.
