Weather Possible Cause Of Fatal Accident Near Gruver TX

A Gruver woman was killed due to a weather related collision Tuesday, February 8, at 11:11 a.m.
Charlene Boyd Spivey, 79, was taken to Hansford County Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
According to reports from Hansford County, Shirley Lowe, of Gruver, was driving a Buick SUV and traveling southbound on Hwy. 136, about four miles north of Gruver, Spivey was the passenger. A Ford pickup, driven by Kyle Williams, also of Gruver, was traveling behind the SUV.
A truck-tractor semi-trailer was reportedly traveling northbound on Hwy. 136, and was driven by John Moore, of Geuda Springs, Kan.
Reports state due to low visibility caused by blowing snow, the Buick crossed over into the northbound traffic causing a head on collision with the truck-tractor. The Ford then struck the SUV from behind.
Both occupants of the Buick were transported to Hansford County Hospital. Spivey was pronounced dead at 1:13 p.m., she was wearing her safety belt at the time of the collision.
