KSCB News - February 9, 2011 8:25 am

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday night for it’s regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda, the Liberal City Commission moved to a second reading Ordinance 4392, which if approved, would rezone a section of property along Curtis Street, from a Two Family Dwelling District to a Multi-Family Dwelling District. This would allow Overland Park Venture Group to start Phase III of the apartment complex project. They are wanting to add another 16 unit complex to the area. Also approved were several vehicle abatements and two environmental abatements. The City Commission also set for Public Hearing the condemnation of properties at 520 N. Nebraska, 114 W. Coolidge, 917 N. New York, and 1011 E. 8th Street. Hearing date is set for March 22nd. Commissioners also accepted a donation of land and a building from Anadarko, and approved the Liberal Police Department to expend funds from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant to purchase a Digital Eyewitness Media Manager System for patrol cars. The amount of the grant is $21,771.00. The Liberal City Commission will present the State Of The City Address Thursday evening at 7:00pm above the bookstore on the campus of SCCC/ATS. The public is invited to attend.
