Liberal City Commission Meets

KSCB News - December 14, 2010 12:00 am

The Liberal City Commission met Monday night at 6:30pm for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda, 10 year service awards were handed out to several employees and the commission proclaimed December as “Underage Drinking Prevention Month”. The commission also agreed to participate in putting in a street with Ron Warren Construction on Purdue Street. Ron Warren plans to build houses on this undeveloped property, and ownership of the property on the other side of the street seems to be in question. It is platted as a park. Commissioners also approved the final reading of an ordinance regulating signs and banners throughout the city. Also adopted were several environmental and vehicle abatements throughout the city, 2011 Housing Programs, 2011 Economic Development Programs, and new 2011 Liberal Pride City Wide Programs. The commission also appointed Connie Seigrist to the Convention and Visitors Bureau, entered into an agreement with Seward County to take over the code inspections for the hospital project, approved the purchase of a used trencher from RSC in the amount of nearly $5,000.00 and moved to a second reading the Standard Traffic Ordinances and the Uniform Public Offense Codes. The city commissioners also approved the acceptance of the Kansas Wireless Enhanced 911 Grant and accepted bids from J & R Sand and Abbot Construction for the construction of the South Park. The next meeting of the Liberal City Commission will be December 28.
