Harvest Nears Completion, Wheat Needs Moisture

KSCB News - November 9, 2010 12:00 am

The dry weather pattern across Kansas is

helping farmers bring in the fall harvest, but the recently planted

winter wheat crop needs moisture.

Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service reported Monday that

about 25 percent of the winter wheat was rated in poor to very poor

condition. The rest was rated as 3 percent excellent, 32 percent

good and 40 percent fair.

The agency also reported that only a few fields of corn, 9

percent of the sorghum crop and 5 percent of the soybean crop are

left unharvested.
