Fernandes Nabs Second KJCCC Player of the Week Honor

For the second time this season and the 5th time during her Seward

County career, Lady Saints middle hitter Sheina Fernandes has been named

the KJCCC Player of the Week. Fernandes was a unanimous selection this

week in a vote of conference Sports Information Directors, after

averaging nearly 4 kills and 1 block per game in three Seward matches

this week. Wednesday in a win over Hutchinson, Fernandes banged down a

career high 22 kills and had 4 blocks in a come from behind, five game

win over the Blue Dragons. On Saturday against Pratt Fernandes again

dialed up the pressure on the opposing defense, finishing off 14 kills

and again leading the team with 4 blocks. Fernandes will look to start

this week off well as the Lady Saints head to Cloud County tomorrow

before returning home to host the Ozfest Invitational presented by

Landmark Real Estate Center on Friday and Saturday.
