Noose Removed After "Hanging Tree" Accident

KSCB News - September 24, 2010 12:00 am

A noose has been removed from a Kansas tourist site, one day after a man nearly hanged himself while taking a photo.

The noose has been removed from the Boot Hill Museum’s “hanging tree”, according to museum Director Lara Brehm. Brehm does not know if it will be removed permanently.

An Arkansas man needed emergency medical help Wednesday after he lost consciousness when he placed his head in the noose while having his picture taken. The man is expected to make a full recovery.

Brehm said she was shocked the incident happened, because the noose was high enough that her tallest staff members couldn’t reach it.
