LHS Unified competed at the new Dodge City High School bowling alley and came away with first- and second-place finishes. Liberal No. 1 took first place with a 729 series, consisting of Ivan Lopez, Jasmine Cruz, Kyle Lambley, and Sam King, while Liberal No. 2 finished second with a 715 series, consisting of Gracie Thompson, Brooklyn Quint, Becca Davis, and Tabbi Strickland. Liberal No. 3 posted a 707, and Liberal No. 4 finished with a 689.
Coach King said the team deserves credit for its performance, especially since this was its first time bowling at the new alley. The bowlers had to make adjustments while learning how the oil pattern played and adapt to having fans seated to the side rather than behind them. Everyone adjusted well, battled through the struggles, and remained calm.
“I really enjoyed hearing the teammates start chanting for their teammates,” Coach King said. “This shows that they are getting along and forming a bond.”
