He played on a talented team which ended up just playing out the string during the summer of 2005. But this summer, Eric Sogard is doing anything but playing out the string. He was called up by the Oakland Athletics and made his Major League debut against Zack Greinke and the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night in Kansas City. He went 1-2. He is the most recent BJ to be called up to the Major Leagues.

Sogard played at Arizona State and played one summer with the Bee Jays. Jim Merrick was the manager and Kim Snell was the general manager. It was a talented team who endured a disappointing season in large part due to injuries. They finished 26-28 and 19-22 in the Jayhawk and did not qualify for the NBC World Series. But Sogard pulled his weight and then some that summer hitting .322 with two homers, six doubles, and 17 RBI’s while playing primarily second base for the Bee Jays.
