LHS Tennis Places Second in Ulysses

The Lady Redskin Varsity Tennis Team takes 2nd Place

at the Ulysses Round Robin Tennis Invitational

Participating teams included Scott City, Garden City, Colby, and Ulysses. Scott City took 1st Place with 22 points; Liberal finished 2nd Place with 18 points. The Lady Redskins battled high winds, but persevered with two 2nd Place finishes and one 3rd Place finish.

Individual results:

#1 Singles ??Susan Nguyen went 3-1 on the day finishing 2nd Place. She defeated Krista Kucharik from Scott City 6-0, defeated Krista Boudhara from Garden City 6-0, lost to Colby ??s Caitlyn Wark 1-6, then bounced back to defeat Ulysses ?? Rita Njue 6-0 to take 2nd Place honors.

#2 Singles ??Kathy Nguyen went 3-1 on the day finishing 2nd Place. She lost a close match to Scott City ??s Amelia Vasko 5-7, defeated Garden City ??s Brittney Landon 6-0, defeated Colby ??s Madison Gawith 6-4, then defeated Ulysses ?? Jocy Wickard 6-0 to take 2nd Place honors.

#1 Doubles ??Katie Plunk & Desirae Courkamp went 2-2 on the day finishing 3rd Place. They lost to Colby ??s Dougherty/Schoaff 1-6, defeated Garden City ??s Gay/Ortega 6-0, lost to Scott City ??s Scheuerman/Blair 0-6, then defeated Ulysses ?? Rivera/Moore 6-3 to earn 3rd Place honors.

#2 Doubles ??Lauren Harp & Jacqueline Nguyen went 1-3 on the day. They lost to Scott City ??s Reed/Berry 2-6, lost to Colby ??s Roopchan/Schroeder 2-6, defeated Garden City ??s Hua/Nguyen 6-0, then lost to Ulysses ?? Martin/Monzon 4-6.

The Lady Redskins travel to Great Bend on Saturday.
