The Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation, Housing & Urban Development Appropriations Bill has been approved, and as part of that Legislation, Senator Jerry Moran secured $2.376 million for the Massoni Bridge Project.
The funding has been awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Highway Infrastructure Program and will be administered through the Kansas Department of Transportation before being distributed for the project.
This funding represents significant progress for a project that has been years in the making and is critical to the future of transportation in Seward County. The replacement of the Massoni Bridge will improve safety, strengthen regional infrastructure, and provide long-term benefits for local residents, agricultural producers, industry partners, and emergency responders who rely on this important crossing.
Seward County extends its sincere appreciation to Senator Jerry Moran and his staff, the Kansas Department of Transportation, Union Pacific Railroad, Representative Shannon Francis, Kirkham, Michael, Benesch, the Seward County Board of County Commissioners, former Commissioners Scott Carr, Tammy Sutherland-Abbott, Presephoni Fuller, and CJ Wettstein, and the many community members who provided letters of support and helped advocate for this project.
Senator Moran is expected to visit Seward County later this summer, and additional information regarding this project timeline and the next steps will be shared as it becomes available.
