The City of Liberal’s Parks Department staff has applied fog treatment overnight Tuesday to help combat mosquitoes that have hatched after recent rainfall. Fogging takes place across all neighborhoods in city limits.
In addition to fogging, staff apply larvicide tablets to storm water basins, ditches, and other areas of standing water on a frequent basis to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.
To successfully manage these pests, we also need residents to do their part by maintaining private property. You can help by:
Keeping a lid on outdoor storage items (buckets, barrels, and trash containers).
Every week – emptying, scrubbing out, and/or throwing away items holding water (tires, buckets, flowerpot saucers, pools, & bird baths). Filling in outdoor holes or low spots that collect standing water.Working together, we can keep Liberal comfortable all summer
