Army To Honor Sen. Pat Roberts

KSCB News - August 20, 2010 12:00 am

Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts is having his name linked forever to the Army’s Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth.

Army officials at the northeast Kansas post scheduled a ceremony Friday afternoon to rename the Lewis and Clark Center’s Trophy Lounge for the Republican senator.

The Lewis and Clark Center houses the college where the Army educates its mid-grade officers in military skills and leadership.

Roberts, a former Marine, was instrumental in securing federal funding to build the center. It replaced an aging and deteriorating Bell Hall which housed the command school on post.

The new center opened in 2007 and includes technology that links the officers in classrooms with military leaders deployed around the world.
