Carol Joy Lockas, age 87, died on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Liberal, Kansas.
She was born on December 13, 1938, in Liberal, Kansas, to Charles Oren and Olive Clark King.
Carol graduated from Liberal High School and then attended college. She worked as a skilled bookkeeper and insurance agent for Zimmerman and Company for many years. She married Bobby Dean Lockas in June 1959 at the King family home in Liberal, they were together for 67 years, raising two children, Michael and Debra. Carol belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed researching extensive family genealogy. She enjoyed cooking and visiting the mountains. She was known as a loving wife, mother, and caring friend.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Lockas of Liberal, Kansas,
Son, Michael Lockas of McKinney, Texas,
Daughter, Debra Lockas-Phillis and her husband, Randy of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Visitation will be 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Rex Petty will be officiating.
A burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.
