City Commission Purchases a Brush Truck for the Liberal Fire Department

The Liberal City Commission met on Tuesday evening recognized Candy Garcia as the Employee of the Quarter. Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2454 for the abatement of several vehicles in violation of City Code. The Commission also gave immediate approval to condemn the property at 110 South Grant Street and adopted Resolution No. 2455, which will order the demolition of the property.

The Commission tabled until its May 12th meeting the agreement with the County to add the Seward County Development Corporation to the City as a Department.

Commissioners approved the Master Services Agreement with Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) as the City of Liberal is in need of a variety of civil engineering and related consulting services. A retainer fee of $7,600 per month for the first six months will be paid by the City, followed by $5,000 per month thereafter. An hourly rate schedule is also attached for specific work order requests by the City.

The City Commission gave approval of the Downtown Redevelopment Master Plan Steering Committee roster as presented, and entered into a contract with Hays Fire & Rescue Sales & Service for a 2026 Prairie Ranger Brush Truck in the amount of $238,780.00 for the Liberal Fire Department.

After a thorough review of the submitted bids for the Water Park Demolition Project, Commissioners awarded the contract to Stopple Dirt, LLC, in the amount of $250,905.19.
