Learn And Play At Liberal’s Memorial Library

KSCB News - August 16, 2010 12:00 am

The next Learn and Play session will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Cooper-Clark Room of the Liberal Memorial Library. This free activity allows parents the opportunity to learn new activities to do with their children as well as learn about what resources are available to them in Liberal. Jan Nondorf, executive director of PACT (Parents and Children Together) will be giving a short presentation. At the end of the session, there will be a drawing for the door prize of a $25 Dillons gift card.

Scheduled the first and third Saturdays of the month, each session will include a Learn and Play activity with the parents and children, a presentation by a local agency that provides services to children, a snack and time for the parents to interact with each other. Sara Schallert will be organizing and conducting the sessions.

The sessions are free to the participants but those interested are asked to register ahead of time by calling 620-655-7177 or emailing [email protected]. ??We would like to have an idea of how many people will be at the session so we can plan for materials and snacks, ? Stamper said. However, participants will also be able to register on Saturday, August 21.

Currently there is funding to provide the sessions through December 2010. Funding for the Learn and Play Group sessions is being provided by the Smart Start Grant and the Seward County United Way. ??Based on the success of the program during the first four months, we would be able to seek additional funding to continue it, ? Stamper said. Stamper said that in addition to the $25 gift card drawing at each session, parents will get a ticket to enter into a $100 gift card drawing in December. “Every session you attend will give you an additional chance to win the $100 gift card.”
