City Holds Tight The Mill Levy

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 6:30pm in the City Commission Chambers for their regularly scheduled meeting. Commissioners officially adopted the 2011 Fiscal Year Budget for the City of Liberal in the amount of $30,691,857.00. The amount of mills requested is a total of 43.094. This is the same amount requested last year. This marks the 5th year in a row that the City has not raised the mill levy. Commissioners also heard an update from the Joint Economic Devlopment Council, and also approved the abatement of several environmental and vehicles violations throughout the city. The Commission also adopted Resolution 2097 which is the acceptance of an FAA grant for the purchase of snow removal equipment for Liberal Regional Airport. The grant amount is $381,466.00 with a City match of $20,077.00. The next meeting of the Liberal City Commission is scheduled for August 24, 2010.
