Russell L. Ohnick, age 61, passed away February 24, 2026, at his Meade, Kansas, residence.

He was born February 28, 1964, at Meade, Kansas, the son of Mitchael J. Ohnick, Jr. and Patricia Jane Twyman. As a young boy he attended school in Meade, graduating from Meade High School in 1983. After his graduation, he attended the Liberal Area Vo-Tech, graduating in 1985. Upon completing his education, he began working in farming, later for the Meade Co-Op delivering fuel and as fuel manager, and the in 1996, for the City of Meade and was an active member of the Meade Fire Department since 1998, and had been a reserve police officer for the city of Meade.

He is a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church and the Meade Fire Department. He enjoys crafts, antiques, target shooting, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by a son, Tyler Brungardt and wife Tarin; three daughters, Misti Ortiz and husband Alfonso, Sherry Giskie and husband Matt, and Tracie Rowe and husband Andrew; a sister, Rhonda Gillen and husband Rick; twelve grandchildren; and several cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rodney Ohnick.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date as cremation has taken place.
