Seward County Community College men’s basketball head coach Austin Downing announced the hiring of assistant coach JaMir Price on Friday.
Price joins the Saints coaching staff after a stellar playing career at both the NJCAA and NCAA levels.
“I am extremely excited about JaMir joining our staff,” said Downing. “He has played at every level that kids we work with dream of playing at. He’s a proven winner that really loves the game of basketball, and most importantly is a great human being all around. The community and youth of Liberal will absolutely love being around JaMir and his infectious energy.”
Price’s collegiate career began at Mineral Area College in 2020, where he played two seasons and helped the Cardinals to back-to-back top-three national finishes. As a sophomore, he averaged 14.0 points and 3.7 assists per game while earning First-Team All-Conference and All-Region honors. He also served as a team captain for both seasons.
Price transferred to NCAA Division I Cleveland State for the 2022-23 season, appearing in 25 games before moving to Minnesota State Moorhead the following year.
During the 2023-24 season, Price was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Newcomer of the Year and earned First-Team All-Conference honors after averaging 14.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. He led the Dragons with 38 steals and was named a CSC Academic All-District selection.
In 2024-25, Price helped Minnesota State Moorhead advance to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 while averaging 10.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in an injury-shortened season.
Price scored more than 1,000 career points collegiately.
He has also worked as a youth sports trainer at the TBK Bank Sports Complex in Bettendorf, Iowa, and as a membership representative at the Richard Bitner YMCA in Davenport, Iowa.
Price earned a Bachelor of Science in business studies from Minnesota State Moorhead in 2024.
