Southern Pioneer Electric has heard of a scam caller targeting customers within their service territory. Customers have shared that this individual is leaving voicemails urging them to call an “844” number to pay for an overdue electric bill. Please be cautious! Always double-check phone numbers provided by individuals claiming to be with a utility service before calling back. If unsure, call your local Southern Pioneer Office directly to check on the status of your account.
Unfortunately, Southern Pioneer often sees an uptick in scam attempts during the fall and winter seasons. Visit their website for additional information and tips regarding utility scammers. https://www.southernpioneer.net/resources/scam-safety/
