16 Year Old Liberal Teen Injured in Car Crash

An injury accident occurred Thursday afternoon at approximately 1:50pm on US Highway 83 and County Road East West 2, approximately 8 miles north of Turpin, OK in Beaver County.

A 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by, ***Name Withheld*** juvenile male age 16 of Liberal, was northbound on US-83, while a 2006 Peterbilt semi being driven by Casey Lynn Gerken,30, of Wiggins, CO was southbound on US-83.

The Malibu, for unknown reasons crossed the center line and hit the semi in the drive duals before going under the trailer and hitting the back trailer duals.

The juvenile male was  transported by Seward County EMS to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS in critical condition. He was later transferred to Wesley Medical Center’s trauma unit in Wichita, KS by air ambulance where he was admitted in stable but guarded condition with trunk internal and trunk external injuries.

Gerken was not injured.
