  1. Community businesses continue to show their support for Seward County Community College. Equity Bank donated $100,000 to Seward County Community College for the Colvin Family Center for Allied Health. The funds will be used to buy equipment and furniture.

“Seward County Community College is a very important part of the Liberal and Southwest region and we felt it was very important for us to contribute to the college and the campaign they had going for the (Colvin Family Center for Allied Health),” said Randall Graver, Southwest Region CEO, Equity Bank. ”We heard wonderful things about the college and the nursing program, in particular, is a tremendous strength to the college and we wanted to contribute to that.”

Construction for the Colvin Family Center for Allied Health began late last year, following the unanimous board approval of a $4.2 million contract. Coonrod & Associates offered a construction budget of $4,156,433.00, with a contingency for change orders of $103,911.00, totaling to a contract sum of $4,260,344.00.

Completion is expected in the fall.
