Saints Take Cloud Series

The Seward County baseball team took three of four over Cloud this weekend at Brent Gould Field in Liberal. The Saints won Sunday 8-3 and 11-1 in eight innings.

In game one, freshman Tyler Wiedenfeld went the distance for the win improving to 2-1. Steven Polito was 3-4 with a triple and an RBI. Willie Gustin was 2-2 with a double and two RBI’s. Diego Cruz was 1-3 with a two RBI double.

In game two, freshman T.J. Looney pitched seven strong innings for the win improving tot 2-1. Cloud led 1-0 until the Saints tied the game in the fifth, scored two to lead 3-1 in the sixth, and exploded for seven in the seventh. Freshman catcher Troy Owen was 4-4 with three doubles and four RBI’s.

The Saints are 9-8 overall and 3-1 in the Jayhawk West as Cloud falls to 5-9 overall and 1-3 in the Jayhawk West. The Saints play at Butler at 1p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
