Rollover Claims the Life of a Turpin Woman After Car Struck a Deer

Brock Kappelmann - July 20, 2017 6:13 am

A Turpin woman lost her life after the car she was in hit a deer Wednesday night near Kismet.  The Kansas Highway Patrol says 44 year old Lorrie Honea lost her life in the accident.

Thirty nine year old Eddie Estes of Liberal was driving west on Seward County Road 13 shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday night.  This was about three miles southeast of Kismet.   The vehicle struck a deer in the road then drove off into the north ditch, over corrected across the center line and entered a field on the south side of the road.  The driver attempted to pull back onto the road.  The vehicle rolled once then flipped end over end  and rolled two more times throwing Honea out of the car.  Honea was the passenger in the car and was not wearing a seat belt.  The driver Estes was not injured.
