Ruben Eichman Jr., 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017 at his home in Liberal.

He was born March 8, 1928 to Ruben and Ella Nora (Reinhardt) Eichman in Russell.

He married Violet Gideon Nov. 14, 1948 in Russell.

He married Thelma Garth May 30, 1978. She preceded him in death in 2006.

He graduated from Russell High School in 1946.

He worked for Gearhart Inc. until his retirement in 2001. After his retirement, he worked at Liberal Safety Lane until 2014.

He was an avid fisherman and would fish at Wilson Reservoir.

He cheered the KC Royals through baseball season and the KC Chiefs through the football season.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include children: Ray (Rhonda) Eichman, Liberal, Richard (Lorraine) Eichman, Fort Cobb, Okla., Ragena (Rick) Harnden, Weatherford, Okla., Rebecca (John Sr) Todd, Liberal, Rachelle (Les) Moss, Goddard, Ruben (Angela) Eichman, Liberal, and Tammy (Tyce) Davis, Liberal; grandchildren: Rocky (Jason) Greer, Wichita, Renda (Eric) Glover, Goddard, John Todd Jr., Liberal, Ryan (Bono) Harnden, El Reno, Okla., Megan (James) Biddy, Fort Cobb, Okla., Rene (Jared) Hightower, Yukon, Okla., Cord Moss, Fowler, Samantha (Jordan) Foland, Wichita, Morgan (Ryan) Brown, Woodward, Okla., Brett (Stephanie) Combs, Okinawa, Japan, and Jace Bost, Liberal; great-grandchildren: Trey, Drew, and Mason Charbeanoeau, Wichita, Halee and Logan Glover, Goddard, Emerson Harnden, Blackwell, Okla., Jaide and Baylor Hightower, Yukon, Okla., Charlie, Austyn, and Krosbie Foland, Wichita, Crew Biddy, Fort Cobb, Okla., and Jovi Brown, Woodward, Okla.; step-grandchildren: Rayce Warden, Hays, Jace Alvarez, Liberal, Kinley Greer, Chickasha, Okla., and Trey and Jake Biddy, Fort Cobb, Okla.; sister, Naida Palmer, Howard; and brother, Gary (Ida) Eichman, Russell.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Ronnie, Robert, and Jerry Eichman; and sisters: Violetta Balloun, Normy Dumler, and Karlene Lesage.

• Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Liberal with Pastor Andrew Wehling presiding.

Burial will follow the service at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 with the family present at Brenneman Funeral Home to greet friends.
