Mickey L. Sheldon, age 86, died Sunday evening, August 7, 2016, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
 
She was born December 13, 1929, at Munjor, Kansas, the daughter of Alex and Adeline Rita Ruder.  As a young girl she attended the Dodge City school system, graduating from Dodge City High School.  A longtime resident of Plains, she was a homemaker and had worked in medical records for Southwest Medical Center for nineteen years.
 
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Plains.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, garage sales, and spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren.
 
On May 30, 1950, she married Robert L. “Bob” Sheldon at Dodge City, Kansas.  He precedes her in death on March 11, 2009.
 
She is survived by:

                                                Kathy Novinger of Meade, Kansas
                                                Sharon Ratzlaff of Meade, Kansas
                                                Jane Berry of Stinett, Texas
 
A brother,                                    Darrel Ruder of Dodge City, Kansas
 
A sister,                                    Elizabeth Baalman of Dodge City, Kansas
 
Twenty-two grandchildren                        Forty-one great-grandchildren
 
She is preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Thomas, William “Bill”, and Jerry Sheldon; and  a grandson, Preston Sheldon.
 
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Plains.  Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery, Plains
 
 
The family would welcome memorials to the Lone Tree Retirement Center Activities Program in care of  the funeral home.
