Donald L. (Don) Dowell

–Donald L. (Don) Dowell, age 88, passed away Tuesday evening, February 13, 2018, at the Fowler Residential Care Center, Fowler, Kansas.
He was born March 2, 1929, in rural Gray County, Kansas, the son of Fred Henry and Clara Alice (Tedford) Dowell. As a young boy he attended the Fowler school system, graduating from Fowler High School in 1947. After his graduation, he began his career in business, starting Don’s Farm Tire Service in 1962, operating it for many years until his retirement.
He attended the Fowler Friends Church, was a member of the Mid America Tire Dealers Association, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building custom gun grips, antique cars, and spending time with his family and friends.
On March 28, 1948, he married Patricia (Pat) Juariz at Dumas, Texas. She precedes him in death on November 13, 2011.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Dowell and wife Andrea of Pamona, Kansas, and David Dowell and wife Kendra of Fowler; a sister, Cathy Fuller of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; and a brother Harrry Dowell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the Fowler Friends Church. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow the service in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
