Obama to Recognize Liberal, Ulysses, Sublette, Copeland, and Fowler Schools

KSCB News - July 8, 2011 5:53 am

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) – Two dozen Kansas schools will get some

recognition from first lady Michelle Obama for getting healthier.

They’ve been asked to join schools from across the country at a

July 29 reception at the White House. The invitees all received a

HealthierUS School Challenge award during this past school year.

The challenge is part of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Program,

which aims to improve the health of the nation’s children by

promoting healthier school environments.

Schools are honored for such steps as getting students moving

and serving higher-quality food.

The winning Kansas schools are from the Fowler, Liberal,

Sublette, Wichita, Ulysses, Seaman, Auburn-Washburn and Copeland

school districts.
