Guymon Teen Drowns in Meade Lake
07/21/2009

GUYMON, Okla. (AP) - A teenager from Texas County has drowned in

a lake in Kansas.

Officials at Lake Meade State Park say Martin Laries, 16, of

Guymon, died Saturday at the Meade District Hospital in Meade, Kan.

Park manager Mark Goldsberry says the victim's body was

recovered after 5 p.m. in about six-and-a-half feet of water.

Goldsberry says the teen was at the state park with an uncle and

two friends.

He says the victim did not know how to swim and got into water

over his head. The rest of the party also did not know how to swim.
