Sumner Shoots Career Best in Liberal Invite
09/23/2011

Liberal hosted a WAC girls golf tournament Thursday at Willow Tree golf course.  It was a 9 hole even that was won by Hays, 2nd was Dodge, 3rd Garden, 4th Liberal and 5 place was Great Bend.  Maddie Curry from Hays won the event with a score of even par 36.  Liberal's Evan Sumner placed 6th with a 45, a career low score.  Evan is finding her swing and how to make it work for her, that is very promising for her .  Head coach Kody Thexton likes what he sees from Sumner.  "She has been putting in extra time and it is starting to show".  Jamie Brond was 12th with a 51, other scores were Julie Jackle 62, Amanda Beaman 69, Jesslin Lamont and Courtney Wiedener also participated.  Thexton says he hoped for better at home.
"I was dissapointed with how our girls played at our home course, it is not the effort a team should have at their course.  We will have to get our attitudes going in the right direction and scores heading lower."
The next tournament will be Tuesday at Ulysses.
