Judge Blocks Closure of Liberal Doctor's Office
02/22/2011

LIBERAL, Kan. (AP) - A Kansas judge has blocked Southwest
Medical Center from closing an obstetrician's hospital-owned office
in Liberal.
Dr. Lamberto Flores arrived in the city from a group practice in
Louisiana last summer as part of the medical center's
physician-recruiting effort. He practiced obstetrics and gynecology
in a Liberal office as an employee of the hospital with a one-year
contract.
The medical center's board approved the termination of his

contract earlier this month. Southwest Medical Center has declined to

comment, saying the termination is a personnel matter.
Last week, a judge signed a temporary restraining order
preventing the closing. The injunction remains in place pending a
hearing Wednesday afternoon.
Flores says he's come to love working in Liberal and is
temporarily planning to open a private practice.

My contract was actually a 2 year contract good until June 2012. It was terminated on January 31, 2011 with a 120 day notice set to expire on May 31, 2011.
