The NJCAA has announced that Seward County Lady Saints sophomore pitcher Courtney Auger has been named the National Pitcher of the Week. Auger led her Lady Saints to a 6-0 record last week to come from behind and win the Jayhawk West regular season championship. The right-hander from Edmonton, Alberta receives this honor for the third time in her career after winning the award twice last season. She posted a 4-0 record last week and also picked up a save in the Lady Saints conference championship clinching game. She is now 20-5 on the season and sports a 1.53 ERA while having struck out 218 batters in her 151 innings pitched. Auger will lead her Lady Saints into battle this weekend in Wichita for the Region VI Tournament with a bid to the national tournament on the line. Seward will see their first action of the tournament at 2:00 Saturday at Two Rivers Youth Complex and will face the winner of the opening round game between Barton County and Colby.
