Former KSCB News and Sports Director passes away in Portland.
01/15/2011

Don Drees, whose voice captivated small, medium, and major market radio died Thursday in Portland, Oregon after a long battle with diabetes.  He was 72.

Drees served as news and sports director at KSCB radio in the early 1970s, and again in the late 1980s and early 90s.  His voice and talent  led him to radio stations in Wichita and  Denver, Colorado during his 30 plus year career.  He served in all aspects in radio including management and sales but it was his love for news and sports that most everyone remembers.

Drees spent his later years in Albuquerque, New Mexico before retiring in Portland, Oregon with family.

At his request, a private burial next to his mother will take place in Hays, Kansas.
