Nguyen Faces Tough Eastern Kansas Foes at State
10/17/2010

LHS head tennis coach Brett Irby describes Susan Nguyen's weekend at state and thanks her for her LHS career.

A Special Tennis Thank You to Susan Nguyen from Coach Irby!

With back-to-back State appearances, Susan completed her 4-year run as a Lady Redskin Tennis Player in Emporia on Friday. Even though she fell short of her goal of earning a State medal, losing 6-2, 6-0 to Kelly O’Farrell of Overland Park-Blue Valley Southwest and 9-6 to Molly Porter from Overland Park-St. Thomas Aquinas, Susan won the hearts of fans throughout Kansas and brought respect to the Liberal High School tennis program. Susan’s accomplishments include two State appearances, a tenth place medal last year, and the Western Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year Award for 2010. The City of Liberal and Liberal High School could not have asked for a better ambassador to represent them. In four, short years, Susan has matured into a confident, graceful tennis player with beautiful ground strokes. It has been my honor and pleasure to have coached this special young lady. Thank you Susan.
