Redskins Earn Resounding Win Over #4 Hays

Liberal is clearly playing their best soccer now. Six days after beating #1 6A Blue Valley West 3-2 in Maize, Liberal beat fourth ranked 5A Hays 4-1 Thursday afternoon at Redskin Field. Isai Gutierrez scored three goals and Hector Mata added a goal in the win. Isai's first goal game at the 16:11 mark with an assist from Socorro Martinez before his second goal at the 11:37 mark with an assist from Jose Chavira. Hays scored at the 35:45 mark of the second half to make it 2-1, but Liberal didn't even wait a minute to score again when Jose Chavira hit Hector Mata for a goal in the south net at the 34:52 mark to make it 3-1. Gutierrez added another goal at the 21:25 mark. Liberal is 7-1-1 and 4-0 in the WAC. Hays falls to 9-2. Liberal travels to Garden City Tuesday.
