Saints Come in Like Lions Against Cloud

Seward head coach Bryan Zollinger uses analogies often with his team.  Wednesday night in the Green House as a Saint was shooting a free throw, Zollinger urged his player to be the Lion.  His intentions for his team is to be more like a predator and to stay aggressive and not become passive.  The Saints were aggressive in the first half in taking a 37-24 halftime lead but Cloud outscored Seward 50-45 in the second half as the Saints won 82-74 Wednesday night in the Green House. 

Seward shot 48 percent and outrebounded the Thunderbirds 39-23 and allowed only three Cloud offensive rebounds. 

Niem Stevenson scored 21 points with eight rebounds while Secean Johnson had 18 points with nine rebounds and Quentin Purtue had 17 points with six rebounds and five assists.  Purtue was 10-10 at the foul line. 

The Saints are tied for first with Hutchinson at 5-1 in the Jayhawk West and Seward is 15-7 overall.  They have won 11 of their last 12.  Seward has won nine of the past 11 against Clound and seven of the past eight in the Green House against the T-Birds.  Cloud is 10-12 overall and 2-4 in the Jayhawk West. 

The Saints will be featured at 6 during the Green Line at Billy's Thursday night on 1270 and kscbnews.net.  The Saints play at Pratt Saturday night at 8 on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
