LHS Tennis Wins Colby Tournament

The Liberal Redskin Tennis Team shuffles its lineup in Colby to prepare to defend as the two-time WAC Champions on Monday in Garden City. The Redskins finished 1st Place as a team with three 1st Place finishes and one 2nd Place finish. Ulysses finished 2nd Place as a team in a field consisting of Trego County, Scott City, Russell, Liberal, Hays, Colby, and Ulysses.

Individual results:

#1 Singles—Duc Nguyen went 1-1 on the day finishing 2nd Place. After being awarded the #1 seed and receiving a first-round bye, Duc defeated Hays’ Taylor Ermoiam 6-1, then lost to Ulysses’ Austin Cotherman 4-6 to finish 2nd Place.

#2 Singles—Vince Nguyen went 2-0 on the day finishing 1st Place. Vince also received a first-round bye before defeating Ulysses’ Hollace Dillon 6-0, then defeated Scott City’s Bretton Hillery 6-1 to tke 1st Place.

#1 Doubles—Hai Vo & Josh Hamilton went 2-0 on the day finishing 1st Place. They received a first-round bye before defeating Trego’s Sherwood/Uhrich 6-1, then they defeated Ulysses’ Lubbers/Rivera 6-4 to win 1st Place.

#2 Doubles—Antonio Rodriguez & Larcyn Carter went 3-0 on the day finishing 1st Place. They defeated Colby’s Mergill/Colling 6-0, defeated Trego’s Dietz/Weber 6-1, then defeated Ulysses’ Perez/Biddle 6-4 to win 1st Place.
