Bee Jays Sweep Hays
07/06/2013

The Liberal Bee Jays swept the Hays Larks after a win Saturday night at Brent Gould Field.  The Bee Jays won 6-1 behind Texas Tech right hander Justin Bethard (3-1).  Bethard pitched seven innings allowing one run on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Hays scored one in the third before Liberal plated a run in the bottom of the inning.  Lubbock Christian's Tanner Rainey lined a sacrifice fly to deep center to tie the game.  The Bee Jays had the bases loaded with no outs but only scored one run.

The BJ's plated three runs on three hits in the fifth.  Wichita State's Tanner Kirk singled home two and later scored on a wild pitch.

Liberal scored two more in the eighth when Darrien McLemore doubled to right center and Lewis Guilbeau singled home two runs.

Cody Tillotson, Jack Mabe, and Trevor Lundgrin worked two thirds each in relief.

Lewis Guilbeau was 2-3 with two RBI's while Darrien McLemore was 2-3 with a double.

Liberal plays at Dodge City Sunday night and has won five of their last six games.  They are 17-11 overall and 11-11 in the Jayhawk while Hays is 21-8 overall and 15-8 in the Jayhawk.
