Moran/Tiahrt Race Heats Up
01/31/2010

The barbs are getting more pointed between

Kansas congressmen Jerry Moran and Todd Tiahrt (TEE'-hahrt) in

their U.S. Senate race.

After a candidate forum Friday in Topeka, Tiahrt called Moran

"timid."

And Moran suggested that Tiahrt has become part of Washington's

establishment.

Tiahrt and Moran are seeking the Republican nomination for the

Senate seat being vacated by Sam Brownback, who's running for

governor this year.

During the forum, Tiahrt said Congress has too many lawyers -

and he later noted that Moran is an attorney.

Moran noted that he didn't move his family to Washington after

he was elected to the U.S. House. He later acknowledged it was a

reference to Tiahrt, who has a home in the Washington area.
