Second Half Surge Lifts Lady Saints

The Lady Saints can enjoy the rest of their week and Arizona trip knowing they took care of business. The Lady Saints go 2-0 in the Phoenix area after a 71-58 win at 7-4 Mesa Tuesday afternoon. Seward out-scored the Lady Thunderbirds 34-21 in the second half after the teams played to a 37-37 halftime tie. Seward held Mesa to 32 percent shooting and 20 percent in the second half. Seward's offense continued their improvement as well shooting 45 percent from the field. Rachel Barnes poured in 26 points and yanked down 12 rebounds. Nadia Rosario added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Megan Lassley dropped in nine while Sheila Washington and Kendra Spresser scored seven a piece. The 13-1 12th ranked Lady Saints beat a Mesa team who had only lost to College of Southern Idaho, Midland, and Central Arizona. Seward plays Cowley January 8 at 11 AM on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. Seward coach Toby Wynn will be a guest on the Sportsguys Wednesday morning between 7:37 and 9 on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
