Southwest Symphony Society to present “Trans-Siberian Sleigh Ride”
12/03/2012

The Southwest Symphony Society orchestra will present its holiday concert, “Trans-Siberian Sleigh Ride,” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Seward County Community College/Area Technical School Showcase Theater under the direction of Grant Mathews. The talented group of local musicians will play a variety of holiday music. Refreshments will be served and admission is a free-will donation.

“We always try to make the holiday concert a combination of classical and traditional music,” Mathews said. “I think this is a great way to introduce a wide variety of music to both our local musicians and our audience.”

The concert will include selections from the Nutcracker Suite, music from Trans-Siberian Orchestra, “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel's Messiah, “Christmas Festival” and “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, and Christmas carols including “Greensleeves,” “Silent Night,” and “Sing We Now of Christmas.”

The Southwest Symphony Society is a Liberal non-profit organization dedicated to promoting classical and contemporary music in the community utilizing the talents of local and professional musicians. For more information about the concert or the Southwest Symphony Society, call 629-0203.
