Man Robbed At Gunpoint At Sunset Lake In Guymon
12/22/2009

A Guymon man was robbed at gunpoint while jogging at Sunset Lake earlier this month.

According to an incident report released by the Guymon Police Department, officers were dispatched to Sunset Lake after a citizen was robbed at gunpoint by what he described as possibly four Hispanic males.

The report goes on to say that the victim, who was a male, was jogging on December 5, at Sunset Lake. After approaching the spillways, located on the north side of the lake, the victim was attacked by two males. It was reported that the men drug him into the spillways, started hitting him and a third male then came out and hit the victim on the right side of the head. It is unsure if the fourth suspect was male or female.

The victim also reported that the three suspects pushed him to the ground, took his wallet, cell phone and shoes. He reported to his sunglasses having been knocked off during the fight. The gun, according to the victim, was a black semi-automatic handgun. The victim was then taken to the emergency room, treated and later released.

Upon investigation, officers found the victim's sunglasses in the spillways. A vehicle with a driver fitting the description of one of the suspects was pulled over and they were questioned and later released.

Chief of Police Eddie Adamson stated "People have to be on their guard at all times, whether it be Sunset Lake or Walmart."

"We have made no arrests at this time and extra patrol units have been dispatched in the evening to keep citizens as safe as possible," said Adamson. "An occurrence like this really reminds people to be cautious and aware of their surroundings."

If anyone has any information about this crime, please call the Guymon Police Department at (580) 338-6151.
