Cathey Scores 30 in Win at Guymon
12/09/2009

Jade Cathey

Jade Cathey scored 19 of his 30 points in the second half of a 61-52 win at Guymon Tuesday night. Justin Andrade added 13 as the Redskins improve to 2-1. The Skins biggest lead was 11 against the 3-2 Tigers who were playing in their home opener. LHS head coach Drew Gruver says he's unimpressed by his team. "We didn't come to play tonight," Gruver said. "We've got to get the guys ready to play and that's my fault. We talked it up good but we weren't ready to play. Defensively we had to play zone. If we are going to win a lot of basketball games we can't play zone. As good as our effort was this weekend, we took the night off." The Redskins won their 13th in a row over the Tigers. But Gruver says Guymon is better. "They did a good job," Gruver said. "You've got to credit those guys. They came out and played hard. It was a big rivalry game for them. It probably means more to them but it shouldn't. You have to credit coach Chapman and his group of guys. They had a good game plan and did a good job." The Skins host Hereford Friday at about 7:45 PM and Dumas at about 5:45 Saturday for the Conestoga Classic. The LHS games will air on Talkradio 1270.
