Tegan Named all Tourney in the Bahamas
11/29/2009

Freeport, Bahamas (OSU Athletics) -- Oklahoma State's women's basketball team suffered a 93-90 double overtime loss against Michigan State in the championship game of the Junkanoo Jam on Saturday night at St. Georges High School in Freeport, Bahamas.

Facing their third ranked opponent of the season, the Cowgirls (4-2) waged a back-and-forth battle that saw 22 lead changes and 12 ties throughout the evening.

With the 25th-ranked Spartans (4-2) shooting 63 percent from the floor in the first half, senior Andrea Riley kept the Cowgirls in the contest with 23 points. The Dallas, Texas native poured in the squad's last 19 of the half as OSU went into the break trailing, 45-41.

The Cowgirls took a 10-point lead at 20-10 before Michigan State roared back with a 20-6 run to retake the lead.

The Spartans took their biggest lead of the night at 47-41 with the first basket of the second half and led for the majority of the second 20 minutes. Riley single-handedly answered with a 12-0 run to put OSU back in front at 63-60 with six minutes remaining.

Once again, the Spartans battled back and regained the lead with three minutes remaining.

Senior Megan Byford's offensive rebound and putback with 47 seconds left drew OSU within two before Riley knocked down a pair of free throws to knot the score at 73 with 12 seconds remaining. Michigan State got off a desperation three that went wide and sent the contest into overtime.

In the first overtime, the two squads traded the lead eight times before the Spartans took a three-point lead with a minute left. With the game seemingly in hand, Riley banked in a miraculous 30-foot shot at the buzzer to send the game to its second extra session.

In overtime No. 2, freshman Lindsey Keller gave OSU its only lead of the period on a jumper two minutes in. The freshman knotted the score for the final time two minutes later at 88 apiece before the Spartans scored the game's next five points.

Riley produced her second career 40-point outing, finishing with 44 points. The Dallas, Texas native tallied eight assists as well.

Senior Tegan Cunningham added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Cowgirls.

Both players were named to the event's all-tournament team. The honor marked the second time the duo has been chosen after both players were named to the preseason WNIT all-tournament squad.

The Cowgirls will return to action on Dec. 6 when they host Coppin State at 2 p.m. in Stillwater.
