Brungardt Wins Yucca Ridge Title
08/28/2012

Yucca Ridge Golf Club held its 7th annual OPEN Championship August 25-26.  This individual format tournament seeks to find the best players in the area to battle it out at Yucca Ridge and this weekend didn't disappoint.

The weekend started out well with great weather and players Tyler Brungardt and Robbie Jackson tied after the first nine holes shooting 4 over par 39's.  Levi Eaton finished his first nine holes with an even 40.  Johnny Obholz shot the low round of the day with a 3 over par 38.  At the end of the day Tyler Brungardt held a one stroke advantage for the lead over 18 holes with a 79.  Levi Eaton finished the day just one off the lead with an 80.  Robbie Jackson held third place after the first day.

Sunday Tyler Brungardt turned in a front nine score of two over par 37 to start, followed by Derek Fuller with a 38 making a run at the end.  However, Brungardt was the only player to shoot in the 30's in the championship round and did it by shooting the lowest round of the tournament with a 1 over par 36 from the purple tees.  For the final standings it was Tyler Brungardt with a 152 finishing as the 2012 Yucca Ridge Men's Champion.  This is the second straight year that Tyler has won the Men's Championship at Yucca Ridge.  Placing second was Levi Eaton followed by Robbie Jackson for third.

Yucca Ridge is a links style public access golf course located 4 ½ miles north of Liberal off of US Hwy 83.    Scheduled next is a couples event Saturday, September 25th.  For more information on events at Yucca Ridge, or to make a tee time call 62-4GOLF or 482-0243.
